The New Millennium inspired Balbir to adopt a new approach to Indian dining – ‘Healthy Eating’, with Route 77 as the ‘pilot’ restaurant. This new approach proved a huge hit with the customers and slowly, the ‘no menu’ approach was brought to the radar of food critics who came and were genuinely bowled over.
‘outstanding courses of dishes we have never tasted before… whatever Balbir’s have done, they should patent’ Ron McKenna Glasgow Herald
‘a masterclass in Indian cuisine that is head and shoulders above the rest’. Scotland on Sunday (Scotsman) Richard Bath
‘The house knows its stuff inside out, so let it choose. Its all tasty high grade stuff’
Alan brown The Sunday Times
The purpose of the banquet option is simple, to serve a substantial meal and introduce dinners to some of our unique starters and main courses at a very reasonable price. Simply let us know your likes and dislikes or any other dietary requirements…. then allow us to organise a meal to suite your palates. The meal consists of three starter courses served one after another, followed by the main courses, rice and bread. It is is available from tables of two upwards. The larger the group the bigger the selection becomes.
Please note the banquet is not a fixed set meal. Each table will have its own different dishes according to the strength of curries requested, the type of bread they require etc. Dishes such as the salmon starter are not compulsory, alternatives like pakoras, or Seekh kebab are always available. *Fish Dishes such as Halibut, Monkfish and King Prawns are available as main courses within the banquet option at a sub charge of £5 per fish dish. However curried Salmon dishes are included in the standard banquet price.
